The warden can offer craft activities particularly encaustic art(wax painting) or felting.

The Old School at Yealand Conyers is a holiday hostel run on a non-profit making basis by the Society of Friends (Quakers). Clean and comfortable with full central heating, the hostel offers good sole use self-catering accommodation at very reasonable prices. Groups up to about 25 in number can be taken, but we also welcome small groups.

 

 

 

The charges for overnight accommodation are:

Adults    £14.00p per night;

 Children 16 and under   £7.00p per night

For small groups a minimum charge of £80

a night will be made.

Yealand Conyers lies west of the A6 some two miles north of Junction 35 on the M6. The Old School is at the top of the hill in the village, next to the Quaker Meeting House. Yealand is in a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. It is in a limestone area, well wooded and rich in wild life, The RSPB bird reserve at Leighton Moss, well known for its bitterns, is within walking distance, where special visits and interesting group activities can be arranged.

 

The kitchen/dining room has a large gas cooker, microwave, water heater, fridge-freezer, dishwasher, cooking utensils, crockery and cutlery.

Separate toilets and shower rooms for male and female are provided and a separate shower room and toilet for staff.

 

Two bedrooms for group leaders are available (one twin, one four beds), There are four other large spaces, those on the upper floor particularly, the common room and the library/sitting room, are used as dormitories. Foam mattresses are provided for sleeping on the floor but  visitors must bring their own sleeping-bags, pillows and pillow-cases.  An adjacent field is available for games, sports and camping. Car parking is nearby. Wifi internet connection is available (small charge). The warden can offer craft activities particularly encaustic art (wax painting) or felting.
