This fantastic cottage sleeping 16 is set in its own grounds surrounded by woodland and is adjacent to the Afon Llugwy in the village of Capel Curig, in the heart of Snowdonia. Access to the cottage is via a forestry track off the A5 and it is next to one of our other properties. Bryn Engan Cottage is part of Plas y Brenin, the National Mountain Centre, which is a short walk across the river.

Bryn Engan Cottage is a great base for groups, families, colleagues, clubs or friends wishing to explore and enjoy all Snowdonia has to offer due to its central location. It offers the perfect base whether you are looking for a tranquil relaxing break, action-packed adventure, a great place for a celebration/birthday weekend or reunion.

The cottage sleeps 16 over 4 four bedrooms (two 6 bed and two 2 bed rooms all with bunk beds) each room has a sink and mirror. There are separate male and female shower and toilets plus two disabled access toilets, one also has a shower. As the cottage is all ground floor it is ideal for anyone with limited mobility. The kitchen is well equipped for catering for 16 with two cookers, a large fridge/freezer and plenty of pots, pans, plate, cups & utensils etc., with a separate dinning room, which can also double as a classroom/meeting room. And just in case the weather catches you out the cottage also has its own drying room. Outside there is plenty of space to kick a ball around or let the kids run off some excess energy, plus a fantastic patio BBQ area and ample parking for cars, minibuses & trailers right outside the door.

Bryn Engan Cottage is self catering, but if that isn't your thing then we can provide some or all of your meals in the Plas y Brenin dinning room and our on-site Bar is open at lunch times (12-2) and in evenings (6.45-11, 10.30 on Sunday) for drinks including some fantastic locally brewed ales and tasty bar meals.

The village shop which sells all those essentials and a few village pubs are all within walking distance. The villages of Bethesda and Betws y Coed are only a short drive (or bus ride) away and both have great local amenities.

The cottage is ideally located for all kinds of outdoor activities including, hill walking, mountain biking, kayaking, canoeing, climbing but also a great base for enjoying a more relaxing break. Nearby is the beautiful village of Betws y Coed, the famous Ty Hyll (Ugly House) and Beddgelert the home of Gelerts Grave. And there are some leisurely gentle walks right on our doorstep. If planning your own adventures isn’t for you but you still fancy being active, you can arrange instruction for any of our on-site or off-site activities through the main centre, it could be anything from trying something new like kayaking to developing your skillsin a particular activity like learning how to lead climb. Whatever your choice, we can tailor the instruction to suit you.

Mountain bikers will be able to ride The Marin Trail right from the doorstep and the equally challlenging Penmachno trails are a short ride away too. Coed y Brenin and Llandegla Mountain Bike Centers are both easily reached by car too. For Hillwalkers, mountaineers and rock climbers there simply isn't a better location in the UK.
